About
I am a career professional photographer who has mostly focused on illustrative, advertising and fine art photography. I have extensive expertise in shooting all types of products (food, jewelry, furniture, other accessories, 2D and 3D art work), architecture (interior and exterior), portraits (individual and group, both classic and environmental), as well as scientific and nature photography. Additionally, I have done event photography including all of the National/Richmond Folk Festivals and the 2016 UCI men’s final bike race here in Richmond, VA.
I have over 35 years of experience working as a photographer with most of my career being spent at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Philip Morris USA and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. I am fortunate to have worked at organizations where I could photograph a great many varieties of subject matter, both inside and outside of the studio.
I enjoy finding new subjects to photograph or approaching subjects I’ve shot in the past in a totally different or unusual way. Photography will always remain an engaging experience due to the integral combination of science, math, fine art and environmental parameters that are all parts of the final image. These pieces are used in different quantities to form the building blocks that enable you to compose the finished photograph. There is something very interesting to me in being able to use constant and variable values to create individual and unique artistic images. Photography can be a gratifying profession and will be a life-long endeavor.
